And the moon does weep

As the last drop of blood flows from me
Eyes staring at the even blacker sky
I reminisce on the creature that I was
And I just can’t help but smile
Life always comes so easily
And there are tricks to get through the game
But you must always do your own desire
So you can grasp death peacefully

I’m glad to see its distant glow
Which haunted me so many nights
Always watching from behind the glass
It taught me all I needed to know
I fell in love with the moon one time
And in return it protected me
All through my life it guarded well
But the hour has come to say goodbye

I cannot endure the pain of losing you
Never again hypnotized by your shine
The silent realm that you molded for me
Will now be someone else’s domain
And do not cry over my slowly dying body
I want to go knowing that you were happy
Warm my pale face for one last moment
Then leave me to the savage sea

The tide has come to take me away
Picking my last breath from the shore
I’m ready for all that is to come
Leaving this earth with no doubt or regret
My collection has long been completed
Nothing left to undo or make right
Impatient to see the ones I lost
And the moon does weep...
